More Than Real Estate: Why We’re Grateful to Call Lake Harding & Harris County Home

When someone searches for the best Realtor in Harris County, Georgia or a Lake Harding real estate expert, we know there are plenty of names that could appear on the screen.
We never take for granted that sometimes, ours is one of them.
At 1827 Real Estate, our connection to Harris County and Lake Harding goes far beyond selling houses. This is home. It’s where we live, where we work, where we volunteer, where we eat dinner, where we spend Friday nights under the lights, and where so many of the people who began as clients have become friends.
And after all these years, we are incredibly grateful that people continue to trust us with something as important as home.
We Don’t Just Sell Lake Harding. We Live Here.

Jamie and I live on Lake Harding, and our knowledge of this lake didn’t begin with a real estate license.
We’ve spent more than 30 years getting to know Lake Harding — its neighborhoods, coves, backwaters and big-water views, and the little differences that can have a very big impact when you’re buying or selling waterfront property.
Because on Lake Harding, two homes with similar square footage can be very different properties.
Is it deeded or Georgia Power leasehold? How deep is the water? What kind of shoreline does it have? Is it on big water or tucked into a protected cove? What is the dock or boathouse situation? Which side of the lake is it on? How easy is the drive into town?
Those are things you learn by living here.
They’re also why we’ve made Lake Harding real estate one of the cornerstones of 1827 Real Estate.
Harris County Is Home, Too

Our roots run just as deeply through Harris County, Georgia.
In fact, the name 1827 Real Estate is a nod to the year Harris County was founded.
We sell homes and land throughout Hamilton, Fortson, Cataula, Midland, Pine Mountain, Shiloh and the surrounding communities, but being part of Harris County means much more to us than closing transactions.
We believe a local business should participate in the community that supports it.
Over the years, that has taken a lot of different forms. Terri has served for years with the Columbus Board of Realtors, and Jamie serves with the Lake Harding Association. We’re involved with the River Safety Committee through Safe Kids Columbus, helping promote something especially close to our hearts as people who live on the water — keeping children and families safe around the river and lake.
We’ve also been proud to support local humane societies and youth programs throughout our area.
And then there are the things that are simply part of living here.
Friday Night Lights.
For years, we’ve supported Harris County High School through advertising in the football programs and around the field, and we’ve been happy to support local student athletes in football, fishing, shotgun sports, wrestling and other programs.
We don’t mention those things because they’re extraordinary.
We mention them because they’re part of what home means to us.
Shopping Local Isn’t a Marketing Slogan

Sometimes supporting your community is as simple as deciding where to have dinner.
You’ll find us at places like Hunters Pub, 219 Food & Spirits, Molcajete, Lola’s and Dockside because we believe local businesses supporting other local businesses matters.
We see our clients there. We see neighbors. We run into friends. And quite often, those categories overlap.
That’s one of our favorite things about doing real estate here.
This isn’t simply our “market area.”
It’s our community.
Our Clients Built 1827 Real Estate

We’ve been fortunate to sell everything from first homes and family homes to acreage, farms, luxury properties and some truly remarkable homes on Lake Harding.
We’ve marketed and sold million-dollar waterfront properties, helped families sell homes they’ve loved for decades, represented beautiful farms and acreage, and handled properties that required finding a very particular buyer.
We’re proud of those sales.
But we’re far more grateful for the people behind them.
One Lake Harding seller wrote:
“Jamie and Terri were the best. They are experts on Lake Harding property.”
They described us as professional, knowledgeable, friendly and responsive and said we made the process smooth — before adding that we were “pretty fun to hang out with as well!”
We’ll happily take that review.
Another client, after purchasing their lake home with us, wrote:
“Their knowledge of the market and attention to detail made the entire process smooth and stress-free.”
They said we went above and beyond to help them find and purchase their perfect lake house.
That one means a lot to us because helping someone buy a Lake Harding home isn’t simply about finding a house with water behind it. It’s about helping them understand the lake well enough to find the property that’s right for the way they want to live here.
But perhaps the reviews that mean the most are from people who choose us more than once.
One family we’ve had the privilege of representing through multiple home purchases told us that what stood out wasn’t simply our real estate knowledge. It was knowing that we would be patient, answer their questions, understand what they really needed and put their best interests ahead of simply making a sale.
They said working with us felt less like dealing with Realtors and more like reconnecting with old friends.
We couldn’t ask for a better description of the business we’ve tried to build.
Experience Matters — Especially in a Market This Local
Terri has been a Realtor since 2005 and is an Associate Broker with GRI and MRP designations. She has also spent years serving the local and state real estate profession through the Columbus Board of Realtors.
Jamie is a Broker and Accredited Land Consultant (ALC), bringing additional expertise to the land, acreage and rural properties that are such an important part of our market.
Credentials matter.
But so does experience you can’t get from a class.
Local experience matters tremendously when you’re dealing with Lake Harding waterfront homes, Harris County real estate, land, acreage, farms and rural properties.
Knowing how to market a lake home is different from marketing a subdivision home. Understanding land is different from selling a condo. And knowing the nuances of property on both the Georgia and Alabama sides of Lake Harding can save buyers and sellers from surprises.
That’s why we’ve intentionally built 1827 Real Estate around what we know and love:
Lake, Home and Land.
Or, as we like to say:
We live and love what we sell — lake, home and land.
The Greatest Compliment Is When Clients Come Back

Real estate gives you a front-row seat to people’s lives.
A first home.
A growing family that needs another bedroom.
Parents whose children have left for college and suddenly realize the house feels a little too big.
A move closer to grandchildren.
An inheritance.
A retirement.
A piece of land someone has dreamed about owning for years.
A Lake Harding house where the whole family will gather.
And sometimes, selling a home filled with decades of memories.
Those aren’t just transactions.
That’s why one of our favorite terms is “forever clients.”
We want to be the people you can call long after closing — whether you need a Realtor, a contractor recommendation, information about Lake Harding, an opinion about a piece of property or simply someone who knows the area.
And we’re incredibly thankful that so many people do.
Looking for a Lake Harding or Harris County Realtor?
If you’ve found us because you searched for a Lake Harding Realtor, Lake Harding homes for sale, Harris County GA Realtor, Harris County homes for sale, Harris County land for sale, or even the best Realtor in Harris County or Lake Harding, we’d love the opportunity to meet you.
But we won’t tell you we’re the best Realtor for everyone.
We don’t think that’s how this business works.
What we can tell you is that we know this area because we live here. We understand Lake Harding because it’s our home. We know land because it’s a significant part of what we do. And after decades in this community and in real estate, relationships still matter more to us than transactions.
We’ll also tell you what we genuinely think — even when that means telling you that a particular house isn’t the right one, an offer doesn’t make sense, or maybe now isn’t the time to sell.
We are Jamie and Terri Griffis of 1827 Real Estate.
This community has supported our family, our business and our agents, and has given us opportunities we could never have imagined when this journey began.
So yes, we’re proud of the homes we’ve sold.
We’re proud of the Lake Harding properties we’ve represented.
We’re proud of the land we’ve marketed and the families we’ve helped find their place in Harris County.
But mostly, we’re grateful.
Grateful for every referral. Every repeat client. Every five-star review. Every person who puts a sign in their yard with our name on it. And every family who trusts us to help with whatever comes next.
Thank you for allowing us to do what we love, in a place we love, with people we’re fortunate to call neighbors, friends and clients.
We live and love what we sell — lake, home and land.
