2025 Lake Harding Fall Drawdown – What You Need to Know

Hey Lake Harding neighbors!

It’s that time again—Georgia Power has announced the upcoming Fall Drawdown for Bartletts Ferry/Lake Harding. If you’re new to the area, the drawdown is when the water level is lowered for several weeks to give residents a chance to make repairs or improvements to docks, seawalls, and other shoreline structures.

This year’s schedule is a little different, so here are the important details:

📅 Drawdown Dates

  • Ramp-down begins: Monday, October 27, 2025
  • Low point (513 ft elevation): Reached by Wednesday, November 5, 2025
  • Refill begins: Saturday, December 6, 2025 (rainfall and upstream water releases will play a role in how quickly the lake refills)

The drawdown will last for about six weeks, with four of those weeks at the lowest water level.

⚓ Tips for Residents

  • Secure your boats and watercraft ahead of time.
  • Don’t leave equipment or materials in the lakebed unattended—water levels can fluctuate due to rainfall or power generation.
  • If you’re planning shoreline work, make sure to get your plans approved through Georgia Power’s Shoreline Management Office.
  • Building a new seawall? Don’t forget you’ll need a Buffer Disturbance Request form approved by your local county before Georgia Power can issue a permit.
